At My Sunshine Day Nursery our philosophy is that every child we care for deserves a calm, caring, safe and stimulating environment in which to learn.

Our high quality of management and staff ensures children develop socially, intellectually, culturally, physically and emotionally in a homely, caring and secure environment. Our development programmes are tailored for each age range and include a range of creative activities, languages, early computer skills and emergent reading and writing to help the children develop. We adhere to the strict standards set by Ofsted working within the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum.

Supported by a qualified and committed staff team, we aim to give each and every child the opportunity to grow in confidence, ready for their next challenges.

Our primary aim is to ensure the happiness, well-being and holistic development of the children in our care.

We have created an inclusive environment where each child’s overall developmental needs are recognised and met, and where he or she can feel safe, loved and encouraged to develop their full potential.

The relationships that we develop with parents and guardians are extremely important to us. We understand that it’s not easy to leave a child in day care and we work hard to ensure that parents feel reassured by our attention to high quality practice and our commitment to children’s physical and emotional security.

We hold regular parent meetings ensuring you have the time to discuss your child’s individual needs and progress with their appointed key person. We encourage parent’s contribution to their child’s learning and work closely with them to gather and share information about their child’s learning at home.

Your Child Can Expect

  • A specially tailored curriculum based on the EYFS curriculum. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old. All schools and Ofsted-registered early years providers must follow the EYFS, including childminders, preschools, nurseries and school reception classes.
  • Fun and friendship with children and adults.
  • Support of a personal Key Worker.
  • We use a Nursery specific software called FAMLY® which all parents have access to via their mobile, tablet or computer. Through Famly® parents can follow their child’s daily activity at Nursery and can interact with Nursery Staff in regards to their child’s Learning Journey.
  • Support in your child’s transition from Nursery to a local School.
  • A variety of Extra-Curricular activities.

Outdoor Space

At Mortlake we have an outdoor garden space for our Babies and Toddlers with free flow access for the Toddlers. The garden is secured by a 3m high acoustic fence and offers fun activities including blackboards, slides and a mud kitchen. Our Pre-Schoolers enjoy the use of a first-floor balcony garden with a workbench and reading area. The nursery is close to Mortlake Green and the children often take outings to explore the area.

At Barnes we are currently working on completing a small outdoor space for learning and reading activities. Each day the children are also taken out to play and explore at Barnes Common which is a 10 minute walk away.

Each day the children in all rooms have the opportunity to use their Outdoor Space. This aids in their development of an active lifestyle through direct physical activity, freedom and movement and through promoting an important sense of wellbeing. Being outside also provides the children with a connection to the natural world and the experience of direct contact with the weather and the seasons. Playing and learning outside helps the children to understand and respect nature, as well as the environment and the life-cycle of humans, animals and plants.
